Jay-Z Documentary: 'Where I'm From' Shows Rise Of Barclays Center (VIDEO)

Life+Times, Jay-Z's culture website, posted a 24-minute documentary about the rise of the Barclays Center. The video takes viewers behind the scenes of his run at the new Brooklyn venue. It's replete with admiring angles of Jay, his DJ and engineer Young Guru and the rest of the Roc Boys rehearsing for the big shows, but otherwise doesn't reveal much in the way of new information.

Highlights include Guru rapping Jay's "Run This Town" verse as the latter walks the arena in advance of the first show (around 13:50), Beyonce's appearance at the 15-minute mark (she's spotted walking just behind Jay as he makes his way to the stage) and Jay taking the subway just like a normal person and starting a near-riot (shouts to the lady who asked him if he's famous). Notably absent? Beyonce performing, as she did on night eight of the run.

Jay turned 43 on Tuesday, making it a fitting day to release the documentary. Mr. Carter isn't the only one getting a close-up: His wife Beyonce is the subject of a self-directed documentary that will debut in February on HBO. (Jay executive produced his documentary.)

Check Out Beyonce Documentary Trailer: w/ Baby Bumps, Concerts And More (VIDEO FOOTAGE BELOW)

A teaser trailer for Beyonce's HBO documentary has made its way online, and the clip promises about what you'd expect: a wide array of vignettes featuring Mrs. Knowles-Carter as performer, model and, yes, expecting mother.
Blue Ivy makes an appearance in the video, though she's still a mere baby bump when she appears around the 17-second mark.
"I always battle with, 'How much do I reveal about myself?'" Beyonce says. "If I'm scared, be scared, allow it. Release it."
“Everybody knows Beyoncé's music, but few know Beyoncé the person," said Michael Lombardo, HBO president of programming, in a statement about the film. "Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."
If this sounds familiar, that's because the Beyonce documentary was first reported by The Los Angeles Times back in August. At the time, Beyonce and her representatives were reportedly shopping the film to studios around Hollywood; it appears they landed on HBO because of Beyonce's own taste.
"HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity," said Beyonce in a statement. "Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home."

The documentary will debut Feb. 16, 2013 on HBO, and marks Beyonce's directorial debut.

Jay-Z and Duracell Powermat

He may have Blue Ivy and Beyoncé back home, but rapper Jay-Z still finds time to go out on the town. At least that's what we're led to believe from his new commercial for the battery-charging Duracell Powermat.

Of course, the Powermat spokesperson and investor still makes sure to field his wife's calls while he's away, leading to the awkward exchange with someone who mistakes Jay-Z's phone for his own.
Judging by the commercial, everyone in the city who doesn't own one of these Powermats has phones running on 5-percent battery life (and listens to Jay-Z's three-year-old "Run This Town" in clubs).

"Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih," Rihanna tweeted late Saturday. "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already," Gwyneth Paltrow wrote early Sunday.

Blue Ivy Carter's arrival comes a week after several media outlets reported that the former Destiny's Child lead singer had already given birth.
Originally due to give birth in February, Beyoncé checked into Lennox Hill Hospital on Friday under the alias "Ingrid Jackson," according to the New York Daily News. The couple rented an entire floor of the hospital — reportedly to the tune of $1.3 million — and security cameras were taped over to ensure the couple's privacy.

She and Jay-Z, who have collaborated on hit singles such as "03 Bonnie & Clyde" and "Crazy In Love," married in April 2008 after dating for about six years. This is the first child for both.
