PORSCHE PANAMERA SPORT TURISMO – PLUG-IN HYBRID SHOOTING BRAKE CONCEPT

While we generally do not focus on a car’s “rear end”, this concept from Porsche will be an exception. After months’ of rumors and spy photos, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo finally surfaced this morning at Paris Motor Show. A direct competitor to Mercedes-Benz’s own “Shooting Brake” effort, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is a mere concept at this time, albeit a very functional one since it shares many of the components on the current Porsche Panamera model. One particular exception would be the rear trunk design, extended now to be more of a Shooting Brake silhouette. More information and images to come from the Paris Motor Show

BENTLEY – CONTINENTAL GT3 RACE CAR

Le Mans Racing fans have been licking their chops for over a year now to see Bentley’s return to the race under the GT3 category. Now, Bentley gives the masses what they want: a sneak peak at their Continential GT3 Race Car ahead of its unvieling at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, which is pretty much as mean as it can get. With a set of wide, curvy fenders, a redesigned aero front and rear end, and a massive Bentley-stamped rear spoiler, this luxury-ride-turned-track-terror is something to behold. According to Bentley, this is 95% of what we will see if this GT3 makes it to the starting line, but that last 5% is a big deal, due mainly to its oversized 6.0-liter W-12 engine that must be changed out to a V-8. Bentley is being tight-lipped on the specs, but just the fact that they’re considering a return to the endurance race they dominated in the 1930′s is more than enough to keep the hype alive.

Rick Ross and Young Jeezy Fight at BET Hip-Hop Awards 2012, Gun Shots Fired OUCH!!!

The beef between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy isn’t over. The two Def Jam artists were involved in an altercation backstage at the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2012 inAtlanta. According to reports, the two exchanged words and began pushing each other.
Afterwards, the two took their beef to the parking lot and shots were fired outside of theCivicCenter. One man was arrested. The Civic Center was put on lockdown for nearly an hour.
Rick Ross and Young Jeezy’s beef started a few years back after Ross released the song “B.M.F.” Young Jeezy, who was close to members of the criminal crew BMF, didn’t care for the song and let his feelings be known on several occassions.
But the two seemed to have squash the beef months later. The fight at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards appears to be a setback.

Check out the tweets below regarding the fight:

Did "The Rock" just slap the sh*t out of Tyrese???

Viral marketing campaigns have officially entered the mobile phone age. A few months ago a clip surfaced of rapper Maino being shot on stage, leading many to believe that he’d been ambushed at a concert. But after some investigation it was revealed that the shooting was a scene from an upcoming Benny Boom film, Dice City  filmed on set with someone’s cell phone.
Taking a note out of that playbook, rapper/actor Ludacris took upon himself to film an onset altercation between his Fast 6 co-stars The Rock and Tyrese, where the former wrestler lays the smack down on the singer and motivational speaker.
To us it looks like Luda is trying to pull a “fast” one (see what we did there?) but you tell us what you think. Can Tyrese can take a punch, or is this practice for Wrestlemania?  Watch the video below.  What do you think?

Chris Brown Fails Probationary Drug Test! WTF!

R&B bad boy Chris Brown is back in hot water with the judge. Breezy  failed his drug test in Virginia. He tested positive or marijuana in his system. However, he caught a break when the judge did not revoke his probation.
Chris Brown made an appearance in a Virginia court room for his probation progress report stemming from the felony battery charge he caught for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown took a drug test on June 18th. He admitted he had smoked weed while at his California home. Breezy has a medical marijuana card in California. However, in Virginia, where he served his community service, marijuana is still illegal.

Judge Patricia Schnegg cut Brown some major slack because she never made drug testing a mandatory part of his probation. She told him he needs to obey all laws from here on out in order to stay out of jail. Schnegg also had the case moved back to California since that’s where he lives now.
Breezy was given three days to meet with his probation officer to work out a discrepancy with his community service hours. the courts say he still needs to work off 121 more hours, but Breezy and his lawyer say that he has less hours than that.

The Emmys Indicate Black Actors Have No Place In Fall TV Shows

As last night’s Emmy telecast drew to a close, one thing was glaringly apparent. In 2012, the Emmys didn’t care about black actors. Out of all of the categories, there were three African-Americans nominated. Don Cheadle earned a nomination for his role on “House of Lies” in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He lost his trophy to Louis C.K. Maya Rudolph secured herself a nod for hosting “Saturday Night Live.” She went away empty handed in favor of Kathy Bates. By the end of the show, our only hope was for Idris Elba to win for his deserving portrayal of John Luther on the hit show “Luther.” When he lost, it was made evident black actors are facing another exclusion from the small screen. The notion black actors are being shut out of acting recognition isn’t something new, however, it’s cemented with this fall’s upcoming television programming season. For all of the new fall shows premiering, only a handful feature black actors. According to Elev8.com‘s report, networks have reverted back to the practice of not creating diverse roles for people of color. Though the bright spot in that dark cloud is Andre Braugher returning to television in ABC’s “Last Resort.” Even though he has been awarded two Emmy statues, it still feels as if the Emmy voters threw him a bone without fully appreciating his work.

In 2010, veteran actress Regina King wrote a heated piece blasting the Emmys for their lack of diverse nominations. Despite delivering some of the best acting on television on “Southland”, King has never received a nod for playing gritty detective Lydia Adams. 2011′s Emmy ceremony saw a diverse group of black actors in the running for awards. Perhaps, that had a little something to do with the bad publicity the Emmys endured because of Regina King’s outrage.
We asked our followers on Twitter how they felt about the Emmys being an indication of the lack of recognition of black actors’ work and the response was generally the same. Many said, “What else is new?” Others wondered why there hasn’t been an urban category created. While the suggestion of an urban category is a decent idea, it’s troublesome because depending on the arena, the word “urban” is used as a euphemism when some whites want to call us the n-word, but don’t want to seem politically incorrect. Nevertheless, that really wouldn’t fly in our community. A few followers reminded that we still have the NAACP Image Awards. While the Image Awards do acknowledge black actors’ work, they tend to nominate actors because of their star profile instead of their acting ability. Need we mention Halle Berry getting nominated for her role in “Frankie & Alice” last year despite the film not having been released yet?

Sure, black actors being ignored when it comes award season is nothing new. But why should that reasoning continue to be allowed? I’m not asking for some type of entertainment affirmative action where a black actor gets a nomination just because they have an abundance of melanin and talent. At least hand out nominations based on merit and not potential ratings for the telecast.
For next year’s Emmy ceremony, Kerry Washington should be recognized with a nomination for her hard-hitting role on ABC’s hit political drama “Scandal.” Not only is she the first African-American woman to lead a network drama, she is damn good at embodying Olivia Pope. If Kerry Washington doesn’t receive a nod, I give up because the Emmys would officially have said to the black television watching community, “Your people’s ability mean not a damn thing to us.” And there’s no way to Olivia-Pope-speed-talk their way out of that realization.

Ann Coulter: Civil Rights Are Only 'For Blacks'

ABC "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos asked Ann Coulter to further discuss what he called a controversial comment the conservative pundit made in her new book: that "various groups [including] gay rights groups, those defending immigrants, and feminists have commandeered the black civil rights experience."
Coulter said that she thought that "civil rights are for blacks" because the U.S. has a "legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws."
She added, "We don't owe the homeless. We don't owe feminists. We don't owe women who are desirous of having abortions, or gays who want to get married to one another." She said that "much of the left...dropped the blacks after five minutes" to argue for "civil rights" for other groups of people.
Stephanopoulos interrupted Coulter asking, "Immigrant rights are not civil rights?" Coulter confirmed that she only thinks "civil rights are for blacks."
She argued, "What have we done to the immigrants? We owe black people something. We have a legacy of slavery. Immigrants haven 't even been in this country."

R&B Singer Cassie heats it up in GQ Magazine!

The smokin'-hot R&B singer is about to make amends for Step Up 2 with her first album since 2006. Damn, but it's good to have all that, um, talent back Read More http://www.gq.com/entertainment/music/201210/cassie-photos-sophomore-album-gq-october-2012#ixzz27OjK7lv7

Check out what R&B Songstress Cassie as to say in the recent GQ Magazine available this month online and in news stands nationwide.  "I'm just a laid-back person." This is how Cassie explains the painful six-plus-year delay between her self-titled debut album and soon-to-be-released sophomore LP. "Maybe laid-back to a fault." Furthermore, she doesn't feel all that bad about it. Throw this in her face: that Rihanna— 24 to Cassie's 26—has already released six studio albums. She'll come back with Sade, who put out just six in her entire twenty-eight-year career. And you know, there's no denying that the two share something else: a slow-burn sexuality (Exhibit A: this photo) that helps you forgive just about anything. "It's been too long, I know, but I got to start over and over again," Cassie says. "It would be awesome to stay popular, but if I was only an underground artist, I would be okay with that." Unlikely, with mastermind (and rumored boyfriend) Sean Combs guiding her from the R&B do-me-baby sound of her debut to the electro-pop and tribal thump of the first single off album two, "King of Hearts." "I feel like I'm a new artist," she says. Whatever you are, we're in.

It has the looks of a concept car, but this diesel-powered Trident Iceni Grand Tourer is built to order for European customers willing to shell out at least £75,000 (around $119,000 USD). Under the hood is an innovative 6.6-liter turbocharged diesel engine, capable of running on mineral diesel, biodiesel, palm oil or linseed oil. The resulting power output is an impressive 430 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque, with a constant 70 mph speed producing 980rpm and 700 lb-ft of torque. According to Trident, this enables the car to keep going for over 2,000 miles on one full tank of diesel. In an age where CD is considered a vintage audio format, Get On Down hopped onto their time machine to bring back a cassette tape, the Purple Tape to be exact. Cassette tapes have an almost mythical existence right now, and an original Only Built 4 Cuban Linx tape – the first album from Chef Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan – is almost impossible to find brand new. Argued as one of the monumental recordings of all time, this album cemented his position in the Wu-Tang Clan hierarchy and the hip-hop scene in general. Get On Down has packaged 1000 limited edition box sets, complete with a 36-page hard cover booklet, promotional poster, promotional sticker, and of course the actual Purple Tape. This box set is definitely a must have for Raekwon fans. Jump onto Get On Down online shop as these will not last long.

Louis Vuitton – Tribute to Muhammad Ali – “Life” | Video

Often times, the description of greatness isn’t found on pedestal or autobiographies. Rather, they are within simple words in no more three syllables but carry much weight. Continuing on with its tribute to the great champion of human cause, Muhammad Ali, Louis Vuitton asked poet/hip-hop artist Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and Dutch calligrapher Niels Shoe Meulman to explore the word “Life” in relation to Ali’s greatness.

Denzel Washington Talks Whitney Houston Death, President Obama In 'GQ' Interview

Denzel Washington has been around the block -- the Hollywood block that is. The 57-year-old actor, who is currently filming his forty-second film, has two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and a Tony Award. He knows a thing or two about the business, both the ups and the downs.
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Washington discussed his journey as an actor and mentioned those who he's met along the way. One such person was Whitney Houston, who co-starred with Washington in the 1996 film "The Preacher's Wife."
Although the two had parted ways since the film, Houston was still his girl. Here is what Washington said to GQ's Michael Hainey:
Were you friends still? Not "talk every month" friends, but I talked to her from time to time. And that was a monster drug that got ahold of her, it was a mean one. You can't go back to that one. Nobody beats that. I look at people—and I don't think I'm speaking out of line—Sam Jackson, I've known for thirty-some-odd years, he was down at the bottom. And he came all the way back. And when he cleaned up, he never looked back. But he can't have that beer, because it might lead to the tough thing.
Whitney was such a sweet, sweet girl and really just a humble girl. You know, they made her this thing. She had a voice, obviously, but they packaged her into this whole whatever, but she was really just this humble, sweet girl. Me and Lenny [Kravitz], we were talking about her yesterday, and it's more of an example to me or the rest of us to keep it together. I was listening to her song "I Look to You." It's prophetic. Maybe I'm speaking out of line. Maybe she thought she could have one. And then the next thing you know, her body was betraying her. She didn't know that her body was aging quickly. She couldn't take it. Your body can only take so much. Some people survive [Hollywood and fame], and some people don't.
Houston died in February at the Beverly Hilton hotel the night before the Grammy Awards. Houston's official cause of death was determined as "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."
Although Houston's downward spiral into drug use and erratic behavior was publicized by the media over the years, Washington insists that's not the Whitney he knew. Her story is one to learn from and parallel against stories of success -- like President Barack Obama's.
"Well, the story's not told yet," Washington, who says that he is liberal in some ways and conservative in others, told GQ. "He's in the beginning of the third quarter. I don't know what his legacy is yet. He's the first—that's a part of it. Like Jackie Robinson. But it just wasn't the first game; it was lasting the whole thing."
Washington shot the editorial for GQ at R Bar in New Orleans, where he is currently filming "Two Guns" with Mark Wahlberg and Paula Patton, according The Times-Picayune.
Denzel Washington appears on the cover of GQ's October Style Playbook issue, on newsstands Sept. 25. Head over to GQ.com to read the full interview now.

Black Women Rally Against Voter ID Laws

WASHINGTON -- Deidra Reese isn't waiting for people to come to her to find out whether they are registered to vote.
With iPad in hand, Reese is going to community centers, homes and churches in nine Ohio cities, looking up registrations to make sure voters have proper ID and everything else they need to cast ballots on Election Day.
"We are not going to give back one single inch. We have fought too long and too hard," said Reese, 45, coordinator of the Columbus-based Ohio Unity Coalition, an affiliate of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation.
Reese is part of a cadre of black women engaged in a revived wave of voting rights advocacy four years after the historic election of the nation's first black president. Provoked by voting law changes in various states, they have decided to help voters navigate the system – a fitting role, they say, given that black women had the highest turnout of any group of voters in 2008.
"We've forgotten our mothers went to three jobs, picked us up from school, put the macaroni and cheese on the table, got up and got somebody registered to vote," said actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, one of several women who participated in a strategy session this week during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's annual legislative conference in the nation's capital. Ralph is married to Pennsylvania state Sen. Vincent Hughes.
The political and financial power of black women is one of the themes of this year's four-day event. It will culminate Saturday with a keynote speech from one of the most visible black women in America, first lady Michelle Obama.
"It's time for us to lead the way because we voted in greater numbers than any other gender and race group last election, and we got to do the same this year," said Elsie Scott, president and CEO of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Turnout among women of all races is generally higher than for men. In 2008, about 69 percent of eligible black female voters went to the polls, an increase of 5.1 percentage points over 2004, according to a study of census data on 2008 voters by the Pew Hispanic Center. That compares with 66.1 percent of white women.
African-American women, who number about 20 million in the U.S., have long been the largest group of Democratic voters in the country, said David Bositis, senior research associate with the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.
In a room at the Washington Convention Center on Wednesday, the sense of urgency among the women was palpable. They noted that voter registration deadlines in some states are as early as Oct. 6, the last of them on Oct. 16. Few attendees accepted the argument that the new voting laws were intended to fight fraud, as supporters of those laws maintain.
Judith Browne-Dianis, co-director of The Advancement Project, said black women showed in 2008 they can turn out in record numbers. But in 2010, "we sat home and while we were sitting at home, there were others that were plotting and what they decided to do was to change the rules of the game."
The women invoke the name of abolitionist and women's suffragist Sojourner Truth, and repeat civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer's famous line – "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired" – as a rallying cry. They talk strategy about checking to see who's been purged from voter rolls or locating documents that voters need to get photo identification. All along, they remind voters of the time, before the Voting Rights Act of 1965 became law, when black people were kept from voting.
Barbara Arnwine, executive director of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, said a voter hotline set up by several groups already gets a thousand calls a day. Callers are typically people who don't know if they can vote, whether their felony conviction keeps them from voting or what ID is required in their state, if at all.
Her organization has created a computer app that allows people to verify their registration status, get help registering online, learn about voting requirements in their state, find polling places and receive other assistance.

Nas And Lauryn Hill Will Rule The World On Their Joint Tour!

Nas bringing out Lauryn Hill at Hot 97′s Summer Jam was just a teaser of what’s to come from the two legendary artists. Today the two announced their upcoming “Life Is Good/Black Rage” tour beginning in October. Ms. Hill and Mr. Jones will kick off the 10 city tour in Dallas, TX on October 29 and end in Oakland, CA on November 19. Per Billboard, the tour’s name is a combination of Nas’ last album and Lauryn’s next single set to debut later this fall.

According to the tour announcement, “Black Rage” addresses the “derivative effects of racial inequity and abuse.” Lauryn Hill releasing new music in 2012 is literally and figuratively music to our ears. Now that we know the first single isn’t about relationships we wonder if she’s going to sing or rap. “I use the performance platform as an opportunity to express the energy of that moment, and the intention behind it,” Hill said. “I’ve been a long standing rebel against the stale, over commoditization.” Nas kept it brief with his feelings on the tour, “Better late than never. Life is good!” Elated would be a bit of an understatement to describe our joy of Nas and Lauryn sharing a stage in 10 different cities.
